Podcast FAQ

Thank you so much for your interest in being a guest on the Beyond Your Past Podcast. We are very excited to help you share your story and spread your message through our podcast. 

We put together this reference document to give you some additional information on how the podcast works, along with some tips that will help the recording go as smoothly as possible.

Recording: All shows are recorded using UberConference. On the scheduled date and time, you’ll simply join our conference line using your computer, cell phone, or landline. Once a recording date is set, you will be emailed a calendar invite that includes all of the information you need to join the call.

  • If you use your cell phone, be sure and find a place where you have a good signal, so we can hear and understand each other clearly. If you prefer to call in via your computer, please be sure to have a quality mic that doesn’t muffle your voice. If you plan on using earbuds with a built-in mic or headphones with a boom mic, be sure your voice can shine through without any static.
  • Please also find a place where it’s quiet and you won’t be disturbed. Consider muting your other electronic devices to minimize random notification sounds.

Scheduling & Follow Up: We will contact you approx. 7 days before your scheduled recording to make sure everything is still good to go and answer any last-minute questions.

  • If you do need to reschedule your podcast, we ask that you give us as much notice as possible so we can get you on the calendar for a new da We do understand that last-minute things come up sometimes, life happens after all. Just keep in mind that we are normally scheduled out several months in advance with guests, so if you need to reschedule, we may not be able to get you back on right away.

Topics: For the topic and discussion on your podcast, the best way we’ve found is to ask you for 5-7 questions that you would like us to ask you on the show. This way we are all prepared and you can share the message you most want everyone to hear. Please try and send those to us at least 5 days before your scheduled show.

Show Notes: We will also write a blog post & show notes to go along with the podcast, which gets published at the same time as the podcast. Normally the publish date is within 3-4 weeks of the recording date; we will keep in contact with you so you know when your episode is ready to go. 

Release Form: We use a standard release form/waiver, that each guest must agree too. Please click here to view and digitally sign the form. It only takes a minute and then you’re good to go. If you do have any questions about the form, don’t hesitate to ask.

The show is also part of the Mental Health News Radio Network and Shining Bright Radio, both of those incredible organizations also help to promote the podcast.

  • We will tag your social media each time we share it out both on the publish day and moving forward as it goes into our social media rotation.
